Product Subject Matter Expert (Accounting)

About the role:

We are building an accounting & finance software that will be industry defining and we need someone with expertise in finance and accounting to help support the growing base of customers. Your background in technical accounting will be invaluable as you collaborate with engineers, designers, and customers to ensure our software meets the rigorous demands of accounting and finance professionals.

You will:

Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting topics, including but not limited to: revenue recognition (ASC 606), intercompany transactions, consolidations, journal entries, and audit readiness.
Translate complex accounting workflows and compliance requirements into user-friendly product requirements and specifications.
Gather feedback from customers, internal stakeholders, and the market to inform product decisions.
Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to ensure accurate implementation of accounting logic and UX.
Create product documentation, release notes, and internal training materials related to accounting functionality.
Assist with QA and user acceptance testing for accounting-related features.

You are a good fit for this role if you:

Have 2-5+ years of work experience at a top-tier accounting firm and/or startup in a finance/accounting role.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
A collaborative, detail-oriented mindset and thrives in a very fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and analytical skills; ability to translate complex accounting requirements into product functionality
Have excellent communication skills with internal cross-functional teams and customers
Bonus points if you have:
- CPA Certified
- Experience with ERPs and other finance software
- Exposure early technology companies in an accounting function
